What is Chimpanzee Habituation Experience?
Chimpanzee habituation experience is when you spend all day long with the Chimpanzees in the forest. The process involves habituating Chimps to get used to human beings. In addition, by habituating these mammals, they become more peaceful than they would be when not habituated.
When you pay for Chimpanzee habituation experience, you get involved in this habituation process since you will spend almost a full day with them.
On the other-hand, Chimpanzee tracking or also known as chimpanzee trekking, is the process where you trek the forest on lookout for the already habituated Chimpanzees. This process normally takes about 3-4 hours but the actual time spent with Chimpanzees may be between 30 minutes to an hour.
In addition, Chimp treks always cost less than chimp habituation experience tickets. Check our chimpanzee habituation experience program by clicking on the Itinerary tab on top of this page.

The full-day Chimpanzee Habituation Experience works with a chimp community which is undergoing habituation. Early visitors can watch chimps leaving their overnight nests between 6:00 – 6:30am before feeding, copulating, hunting, breast feeding, resting, patrolling and displaying until it is time to build new nests around 7pm.
For habituation to work, animals need to see people regularly over a long period of time in non-threatening circumstances. For a long time, the habituator will get only sporadic glimpses through binoculars and will have long hours of seeing nothing at all. However, for those who are patient, have an interest in natural history, and enjoy activities like bird watching, identifying plants and insects, hiking and camping, habituating primates can be enjoyable and immensely rewarding.
